ASCENDIS is an independent office, founded in 2004 by Ir. Jan VAN DEN AKKER, providing consultancy services on sustainable energy and climate change in a development context.
ASCENDIS offers services in Africa, Europe neighbourhood, Asia & Pacific and Latin America & Caribbean from offices in Netherlands and in Lima, Peru, to international development agencies and their local partners.

Who is Jan VAN DEN AKKER?
I am a technology management scientist with a Master's degree from Eindhoven University of Technology (Netherlands) and have been working for almost 25 years in the area of clean technology, energy efficiency, renewable energy, energy access and climate change. I am fluent in English and Spanish with working knowledge of French.
In the nineties, I worked for for Dutch consulting offices and as programme and advisor for a number of UN organizations. As independent consultant I have provided services to UNDP, UNEP, UNIDO and NGOs and consulting firms (e.g. AETS, Baastel, COWI, GFA, MottMcDonald, NTU, Practical Action, Sofreco) in projects funded by these organisations, GEF, AfDB, World Bank, bilateral donors and the EU.
